Household Waste Recycling Centres

re3 introduced new rules about bringing waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) on 1 December 2009. These rules have been introduced to help prevent businesses using the HWRCs.

The new Waste Acceptance Policy outlines limits on certain types of waste that can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centres.  These limits are in line with the amount of waste that householders produce and are designed to prevent businesses bringing waste to the centres.

You may find that you are affected if you have large amounts of waste to bring to site, for example after a weekends DIY.  To find out more about the limits on certain types of waste, please view our Waste Acceptance Policy leaflet.

The height barriers at both HWRCs are now closed and set to 1.95m. All vehicles (including vans, light commercial vehicles, 4x4's) over 1.95m must now prebook to gain entry to the sites. Residents using trailers longer than 6ft must also pre-book.

Landlords - please note that waste generated from a property that you rent out, via maintenance or refurbishment, is classed as business waste and not household waste.
